FAQ
How does pet XP work in Grow a Garden?
Pets accumulate XP over time based on their species and their Age level. Higher age pets produce more XP/sec and often have stronger passive effects. The XP-to-level curve is steep: Level 1→5 costs 250 XP, but Level 75→100 costs 115,000 XP, so pushing a pet to Max takes a meaningful time investment even with boosts.
Which pet mutations give XP boosts?
Shiny (+15%), Inverted (+50%), Golden (+10%), Rainbow (+20%), and Radiant (+25%) all modify effective XP/sec. Shiny is the most common mutation (~32% drop chance) while Inverted is rarer but gives the biggest single-mutation boost. Only one mutation rolls per pet.
Does friend boost stack with pet XP mutations?
Yes. Friend Boost, Food XP boosts, and pet mutation XP bonuses all stack multiplicatively on the pet's base XP/sec rate. A Shiny pet (+15%) with a 25% friend boost and a +20% XP food running effectively earns 1.6× base XP/sec.
What's the fastest way to age a pet?
Leave the pet equipped 24/7 so it accumulates XP while offline (pets continue earning while you're away), use a Shiny or Inverted mutation pet if you have one, stack friend boost by tending friends' gardens, and feed any XP-boost food consumable when stacking toward a level goal. Most mid-tier pets reach Level 75 in 3-5 days of continuous use with a 50% effective boost.
