What are pet mutations in Grow a Garden?
Pet mutations are modifiers that roll on a pet when it hatches from an egg. Each mutation changes the pet's passive effect, XP gain, or size. A single pet can have one mutation, and mutations are extremely rare — the most common (Shiny) rolls about 32% of the time while the rarest (Ascended) is 0.32%.
Which pet mutation is the best?
For pure earnings, Shiny and Inverted stack the biggest flat XP/sec boost (15–50%). For crop value multipliers, Rainbow (+20%) and Golden (+10%) are the strongest 'passive boost' mutations. For size/farm aesthetic, Mega (+200%) and Tiny (-90%) are popular. Some mutations apply environmental effects (Frozen, Shocked, Windy) that stack with crop mutations during harvest.
How do I get pet mutations?
Pet mutations roll automatically when an egg hatches. You can't force a specific mutation, but you can influence the odds — certain eggs have higher shiny/mega base rates, and some mutations (Luminous, Giantbean) come from specific events or crafted upgrades rather than random rolls.
Can pets have multiple mutations?
No. Each pet can carry exactly one mutation at most. Some pets roll with no mutation at all — those are standard pets and behave normally. Mutation is locked at hatch and cannot be re-rolled.
